Everest Base Camp Luxury Trek is a unique and new fancy-style trek itinerary while hiking to the base camp of Mount Everest in the most comfortable ways with the best facilities available to make it a LUXURIOUS Trip to the highest base camp.

Luxury Everest trekking offers an extraordinary comfort rest on your trekking journey to Everest base camp in a short time frame. Providing luxurious accommodation throughout your stay in Kathmandu and in the mountain.

Unlike the regular EVEREST BASE CAMP TREK (14-Day) package, this luxury trek package to Everest provides a room with a private bathroom and neat and clean comfortable beds with the best available lodges in the mountain along with electric warm blankets and heater.

Everest base camp is the most dream destination for trekkers around the world. This comfortable trek offers stunning views of Himalayan scenery, local culture, and nature as well as provides an opportunity to understand centuries-long local Sherpa tradition, culture, and religion mainly influenced by Tibetan Buddhism.

This trek also offers the view of Himalayan glaciers, lakes, rivers, diverse vegetation, and high-altitude valleys surrounded by mountains where you can stroll around and take snapshots.

The Everest base camp luxury trek Nepal starts by taking a Helicopter flight from Kathmandu to LUKLA (2840M), the most famous gateway to Mt. Everest. The trek goes along the Dudh Koshi river and climbs up to Namche Bazaar (3446M) via Phakding (2610M) on your second night, the Sherpa capital.

Then, you hike to the EVEREST VIEW HOTEL for acclimatization, enjoying the stunning panoramic views of snow-capped mountains including Mount Everest while sipping a cup of tea. A range of Himalayas awaits from the top.

The next day's trek continues to Tengboche, which has the biggest monastery in the entire KHUMBU REGION dating back to the 16th century, where you can observe the old paintings, scriptures, and ritual ceremonies by monks and feel the spiritual presence of the mountains.

Trek continues to high altitude settlements of Dingboche where you take your second acclimatization day hiking up on the nearby hill called Nagarsang, a perfect place to explore the Himalayas.

Your last day hiking towards the base camp of Mt. Everest goes through Lobuche (4910M) and the last settlement of the trek Gorakshep (5140M), from where you will take a day tour to Everest base camp and back to Gorakshep for the night to finish off the trek.

The next day, you will hike towards Kalapatthar (5545M) for the panoramic sunrise view over the Himalayas and, descend back to Gorakshep for breakfast and, then fly back by helicopter to Lukla.

After breakfast, take a helicopter flight to Kathmandu Via Lukla. This helps in retracing the same way back to Lukla like in other EVEREST BASE CAMP TREK (16-Day).

The Comfort Hotels in the mountains are quite busy during Peak season so, please give us a booking earlier, so that DISCOVER ALTITUDE can secure the best available accommodation for you.

High altitude, safety measures, and regulation

Everest base camp lies in the high Himalayas of the Khumbu region. Normally the symptoms of High Altitude Sickness can be felt after 3500 meters. The main cause of high-altitude sickness is gaining elevation too quickly.

Walking fast overexerts your body and, drinking less also dehydrates your body which both highly contribute to getting altitude sickness.

Walking slowly and drinking plenty is highly recommended, which helps to prevent high altitude sickness. You also need to know about Altitude Sickness Symptoms which help to take further measurements to avoid them.

Common symptoms are dizziness, vomiting, loss of appetite, over-fatigue, headaches, and shortness of breath. However, our professional guide will help you in assisting with, if any symptoms are seen.

Do not walk to the edge of the mountain while animals like zonkey, yaks, and mules are on the way. Always stay on the hillside for your safety.

Do not walk in the dark which provides you with the risk of an animal attack, sprained legs, or hypothermia.

Everest base camp comfort trek or luxury trek goes through a Himalayan region where weather is always unpredictable, so prepare with warm gear accordingly while trekking.

Watch out for landside areas (it is recommended to move faster in those sections)

Flying drones and shooting movies and documentaries are illegal without special permission from government bodies. Otherwise, it is subject to being in trouble! Consult with your travel agency for a permit.

Gorakshep village
Gorakshep: Last settlement at 5164m, with Mount Pumori backdrop, essential tea houses for trekkers

Do we stay in comfortable lodges in every place we go onwards to Everest base camp?

The comfort lodges are available throughout the trek. However, the higher we hike the luxury of the lodges will change a bit because of the altitude. Till Dingbuche you will have a wonderful accommodation.

Then onwards Lobuche has a room with a comfortable bed but does not have a private toilet inside. The last place in Gorakshep which is at 5140 meters above sea level, has a comfortable room and for toilets, you have to go outside.

The reason behind not having comfortable lodges in high altitudes is that there is no permanent source of energy, as all the lodges use solar-powered energy which is not a reliable source where the weather keeps changing.

Another reason they don't have a private toilet inside the room is that the temperature mostly drops below zero. So the water turns into ice which damages all plumbing systems.

Useful Info

What makes a luxury Everest Base Camp trek different from a standard trek?

The luxury Everest Base Camp trek is crafted to provide premium service during the journey. Compared to the standard Everest Base Camp trek, it is on the expensive side.

During trekking, you will spend nights in luxury lodges and have access to amenities such as heated rooms, private washrooms, Western-style toilets, WiFi, charging, etc.

Likewise, the luxury EBC trek includes a helicopter flight to Lukla and Helicopter return to Kathmandu after the Kala Patthar hike. It shortens the trek and eliminates three days of walking back to Lukla.

The luxury Everest Base Camp trek makes this adventurous, high-altitude journey more achievable, increasing the success rate.

How physically demanding is a luxury trek compared to a standard EBC trek?

There is not much difference in physical challenges, whether you do the luxury Everest Base Camp trek or the standard Everest Base Camp trek. It is because the trail is the same. You will walk the same hours and follow the same route while ascending.

However, the better services during the luxury EBC trek make the trip less stressful. You do not have to worry about sharing the toilet or charging your electronic devices.

In addition, the luxury EBC trek also replaces the 65 kilometers of walking back to Lukla and the overwhelming commercial Lukla flight with a comfortable, easy helicopter flight, so it definitely makes the trek somewhat less physically demanding.

What are the risks of altitude sickness during the luxury Everest trekking, and how can you avoid it?

Our luxury Everest Base Camp trekking itinerary includes two rest days, which, by general acclimatization standards, is enough to adjust to high altitude and avoid altitude sickness.

In addition to that, our guide will monitor your health and provide medicine if you feel uneasy or see early signs of altitude sickness. Note that regardless of your age and fitness, you may suffer from altitude sickness if you do not acclimate.

Previous high altitude experience is the top way to avoid altitude sickness during the Everest Base Camp trekking. If you have not experienced high altitudes before, consider doing some day hikes near you.

Below, we have shared the early signs of altitude sickness. If you see these signs, inform your guide immediately and take first aid:

  • Strong headache
  • Vomit
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness
  • Insomnia
  • Loss of appetite
  • Difficulty breathing

Do the following things to avoid altitude sickness during luxury EBC trekking:

  • Do not rush and, ascend slowly.
  • Maintain your pace.
  • Drink three liters of water every day.
  • Limit caffeine intake and avoid alcohol while ascending.
  • Get ample rest and eat plenty of food to maintain your energy.
  • If you feel sick, inform your guide and get medicine. Descending a few hundred meters will also help control altitude sickness symptoms.

When is the best time to do the luxury Everest Base Camp trekking in Nepal?

The best time to enjoy the luxury Everest Base Camp trek in Nepal is spring (March, April, May) and autumn (late September, October, and November). These are peak EBC trekking seasons and offer perfect weather and climate.

Note that spring and autumn are also the busiest times of the year. Many trekkers do the Everest Base Camp trek in these two seasons, and the trails are a bit crowded. If you are looking for peaceful trails, we recommend trekking at the start or end of the peak seasons.

Likewise, you can also do a luxury Everest Base Camp trek in winter (December, January, and February). The cold climate, snow, and winter landscape make the trek magical.

Lastly, June to mid-September (summer/monsoon) is the most volatile time of the year in terms of weather for the Everest Base Camp trek. Flights are frequently delayed and canceled due to bad weather and poor visibility, and the trail is also not in good condition because of rainfall.

Are luxury lodges and hotels available throughout the trek or only in certain locations?

You will have access to luxury lodges in Lukla, Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Deboche, and Dingboche villages. Above in Lobuche village and Gorak Shep, there are no luxury lodges. So, you have to adjust to simple lodges.

Take it as two days of raw mountain experience. Not to mention, we will book the best available lodge for you in these two places.

How does the luxury trek experience compare to staying in standard teahouses?

Standard tea houses/lodges offer basic services. Rooms are usually shared between two trekkers, and single rooms cost a few extra bucks. Likewise, private washrooms are not available in most standard lodges.

Services like charging, WiFi, and hot showers cost extra money in the standard lodges, which is not the case for the luxury lodges. Similarly, luxury lodges offer better rooms, comfy bedding, and an overall premium experience compared to standard lodges.

Are there luxury lodges with private bathrooms, hot showers, and WiFi?

Luxury lodges on the Everest Base Camp trek route have amenities like private bathrooms, hot showers, and WiFi. You do not have to pay extra money for these services. With the increase in elevation, the network becomes poor, so WiFi is limited.

Bathrooms will be equipped with hand soap and toilet paper. However, we recommend trekkers pack 1-2 toilet paper rolls just in case. Also, pack your shampoo and other essential toiletries.

What kind of meals are included in a luxury trek? Is Western cuisine available?

During the trek, you will have access to a variety of food. From the famous dal bhat, thukpa, and momo to dishes like pasta, pizza, and curries, the variety of food will be excellent on the Everest Base Camp trek.

Not only that but in villages like Phakding and Namche Bazaar, you will also find dishes like biryani, sandwiches, burgers, sushi, etc. Freshly baked pastries, cakes, bread, pies, and cookies are also found in many places along the trail.

For breakfast, you will have options like eggs, toast, sausage, soups, muesli, oat, etc. Likewise, fresh fruits are also available in most of the lodges. Some other famous dishes commonly available on the EBC trek are fried rice, rice with curries, Tibetan bread, Stew, Chapati, Paratha, and Thenduk etc.

You will also get beverages, teas and coffee. Ginger honey tea is best to preventing altitude sickness and colds. We highly recommend that trekkers have it once a day. Likewise, have tea and coffee in moderation to limit your caffeine intake.

Are there options for vegetarians, vegans, or special dietary requirements?

Vegetarian food is available throughout the Everest Base Camp trek route. You will enjoy fresh fruits and veggies. Likewise, vegan food is very limited. If you have any special dietary requirements or are allergic to any food, please let us know.

We will inform your guide ahead of time. Likewise, we request trekkers to be aware of what they are eating and look out for any ingredients that may trigger their allergies. Make sure to inform the lodge about your allergies when placing your order.

What can you expect during the helicopter flight from Gorak Shep to Kathmandu?

Kala Patthar is the last ascent and walk on the trek. After hiking to this place, you will return to Gorak Shep and take a helicopter flight back to Kathmandu. By taking the heli flight, you will avoid three days of walking (approx. 65 km) back to Lukla.

The flight will be around one hour long. You may land at Lukla to refuel the chopper. Five trekkers and a pilot can fly at a time. The flight will be comfortable and scenic. You will fly over the trail that you take to reach EBC and Kala Patthar. Seeing the trail you used to ascend from the air will be iconic.

You will enjoy aerial views of the valleys, villages, and mountains during the helicopter flight. The helicopter flight not only makes your Everest Base Camp trek convenient but also makes the trip more adventurous and fantastic.

Are luxury treks more flexible with itinerary adjustments (e.g., extra rest days)?

Our luxury Everest Base Camp trek itinerary includes two rest days in the mountains, which is enough time to acclimatize. In the itinerary, You can add additional rest days or combine other places, like Ama Dablam Base Camp or Gokyo Lakes.

We are very flexible with our Everest Base Camp trek itinerary and service and are open to curating the trip as per our guests' wishes. Feel free to talk to us if you have any special requests.

What medical support is available on a luxury trek (e.g., oxygen, trained guides)?

You will be trekking with a certified and experienced mountain guide who can provide you with first aid in case you get hurt or sick while hiking. We ensure our guide has a comprehensive first aid kit, oximeter, and other mountain essentials.

Likewise, supplemental oxygen support is not required during the Everest Base Camp trekking. However, we will equip our guides with supplemental oxygen if our guests need it. With us, you can trek to Everest Base Camp without any worries. Our trained team will take care of you.

Is it easy to breathe at the Everest Base Camp? Is supplemental oxygen included?

Because of the high altitude, the oxygen level at The Everest Base Camp is lower than in Kathmandu. However, breathing is not difficult here. Take a short break and long breaths if you are out of breath.

We do not usually carry supplemental oxygen during the Everest Base Camp trek because it is not required. However, if you have any health issues that may require supplemental oxygen support at EBC, let us know ahead of time, and we will equip the guide with it.

He will inform us of your condition, and we will take further steps to address the situation accordingly. If you need medical assistance beyond first aid or the situation demands evacuation, we will send our helicopter rescue team immediately.

What are the top tips for Luxury trekking to the Everest Base Camp?

Below, we have shared the top tips for the Everest Base Camp Luxury Trekking that will make your journey 10 times better:

  • Stop and stand on the cliffside when you see yaks and mules passing by you. Do not disturb them or pet them. Do not stand on the cliffside.
  • Listen to your body, enjoy the journey, and immerse yourself in the high-altitude environment. Understand that even though it is a luxury Everest Base Camp trek, you will still be in one of the most remote parts of the world, so there are limitations, which is why it is a luxury adventure trek.
  • Many trekkers bring normal sunglasses on the Everest Base Camp trek. While normal sunglasses will be fine until Namche Bazaar, above this village, you have to wear UV sunglasses or snow sunglasses to protect your eyes.
  • As you ascend, the temperature decreases. You will feel hot while walking but cold when you stay still. Therefore, zipping layers on and off will be common. Wearing clothes in the right layers will help you and make the journey hassle-free. We highly recommend Gilet.
  • Pack more than two pairs of trekking pants and alternate between them to always feel fresh. Similarly, pack two or three beanies and separate them for sleeping, walking, and post-showers.
  • Wear suitable trekking boots designed to navigate mountainous terrain. These boots provide ankle support and prevent sprains and other injuries. Do not bring a new pair of trekking boots. Buy your boots early and get used to them to avoid blisters during trekking.
  • You will need good-quality socks for the Everest Base Camp trek. Pack 6 to 7 pairs of liner socks and at least 3 to 4 pairs of fuzzy socks. We also recommend packing 1 or 2 pairs of thermal bed socks.
  • Wearing the same trekking boots for 6 to 7 hours daily can cause a bad smell. So, we recommend you to carry shoes freshener or tea bags. You can use them to get rid of bad smells and keep your feet fresh.
  • You will need a buff with two layers. It allows you to use one or both layers as the weather demands.
  • Buy touchscreen-compatible inner gloves to easily use your mobile or camera to take pictures while trekking.
  • During trekking, you will carry a light daypack. You can store documents, money, water bottles, snacks, cameras, and other essentials that you may need while walking from one village to another. As the maximum weight allowed for the daypack is 5 kg, we recommend trekkers buy a daypack with a waist strap to walk comfortably. Waist straps remove weight from your shoulder and make walking quite manageable.
  • Hydration is very important to avoid altitude sickness during trekking. We understand that constantly drinking water from your water bottle can be tiresome, so we recommend a water bladder. Trust us, it will be a game changer.
  • Buy a Nalgene bottle for the trek. It is a special water bottle that keeps the water the same for long hours, even if the temperature rises or decreases. Also, pack a small flask bottle to carry warm soup or tea while walking.
  • Showering daily during the Everest Base Camp trek is not a viable option, especially above Dingboche village. So, we highly recommend that trekkers pack enough wet wipes to keep themselves clean.
  • Also, put wet wipes in your day pack in case you get a chance to pet a dog or cat while trekking. Running water is not available everywhere, so make sure to wipe your hands and use a sanitizer to be on the safe side.
  • SPF, moisturizer, and lip balm are very important for the Everest Base Camp trek. At high altitudes, sun rays are quite intense, and the cold, dry climate will soak hydration from your face and body. So, you must take care of your skin.
  • Pack high-energy protein bars, nuts, and electrolytes to munch while walking.

The best vacation, with the best views, with the friendliest people on earth

Through the agency Discover Altitude we chose:

PRIVATE LUXURY EVEREST BASE CAMP TREK WITH THE LUXURY LODGE IN THE MOUNTAIN AND HELI BACK

certainly our best choice, the organization was better than we expected, and we got more than we paid for, definitely 100%.
The agency works with the best guides and porters in the mountains, which is the most important thing, because if you have staff in the mountains who are local and know everyone on the way, it's a win, so you'll never get bad accommodation or food that could spoil your trip.

The entire service, from reception at the airport to the trek and city tour, to everything you want, the support is very good, you practically feel like you have a butler by your side 24 hours a day, amazing

Do not fall for other agencies that promise you much more, because what the Discover Altitude team can offer you is the maximum, for sure.

we will return and without a doubt only through the agency Discover Altitude Team.

Greetings to all and enjoy the Himalayan trek because it is divine

Your search for a trekking company can stop here!

I can’t say enough great things about Kumar and Santosh at Discover Altitude. They set my trip up with minimal notice, even made some custom changes and everything went perfectly. They have great connections for everything tourism in Nepal. If you want a guide to show you around Kathmandu-they’ve got you. If you want to go for a trek-it’s their bread and butter. If you want to go for an expedition at half the cost of western companies with guides whose experience will blow your mind-easy day. Whether you’re planning a trip for next year or next week they will take care of you like family. They took the time to have tea with me and discuss my trip from start to finish over a map, they held my luggage safely while I was in the mountains, and they checked in at possible friction points (like flights) to make sure everything was going well.

I’ve heard horror stories from backpackers who used other companies and there are a ton around here. It was overwhelming for me to pick one, but Discover Altitude was recommended to me so I figured I’d give them a try. This is now the second trip they planned for me. I also recommended them to some friends who did a luxury Everest view trip with them and had nothing but good things to say. You can roll the dice and try someone else, but if you want to take the safe bet and know that you’ll have an amazing trip at a competitive price there’s no other option.

Amazing time on the way to EBC

It was an amazing trip, I had so much fun. The guide was great and very helpful. The trek was challenging but the good positive atmosphere in the group made it fun to cover the distance. Highly recommend!

Great EBC trip

With my friend, we did the Everest Base Camp 9-day trail. The experience was great, though quite intense - but we were well prepared. We saw all the peaks on the way and stayed in nice places with good views and rooms. The views on the way are really great - Amadablan, Everest, Lhotse...
It was a very mind-refreshing and inspiring trip - thanks to Rajesh, our guide, and Bala, our porter!

If you want to experience true, kind Nepali hospitality and a great trek, don’t look for another agency.

I had the incredible opportunity to complete 4 different treks with Discover Altitude: Three Passes, ABC, Annapurna Circuit and Langtang. Each time, the experience exceeded my expectations! The owners, Kumar and Santosh, along with their guides are exceptionally professional, knowledgeable and attentive to every detail. Everything was very well planned for all treks, and I felt safe even at the highest altitudes, thanks to their friendly and supportive guides.

There are many agencies to choose from, and I visited many, but when I met Kumar and Santosh the quality of their personalities quickly became evident. They treated me as a friend they genuinely wanted to support, not just a client, caring only about the money. Even if I hadn’t signed up, they would have treated me the same, not as potential or lost business. This authenticity is why I chose them! This was the only agency where I had that gut feeling, which turned out to be correct. They always went the extra mile. Before each trek, they spent a lot of time going through all the details with me to ensure I had everything I needed and was ready to go. They also checked up on me along the way. During all these times, they truly became my friends!

If you want to experience true, kind Nepali hospitality and a great trek, don’t look for another agency. They are also very competitively priced for both solo and group trips! I cannot recommend them highly enough!

Mustang - Kagbeni, Muktinath 6-day tour

We chose a 6-day course that tours Kagbeni and Muktinath, the gateway to Mustang from Kathmandu. It takes 3 days to actually walk, so it's a safe course even for beginners.

Fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara. Fly from Pokhara to Jomsom (30-minute flight), then hike 3 hours to Kagbeni. Hike 5-6 hours to Muktinath. Return to Jomsom via a different route. Take a lunch break at Rupna on the way. Fly to Pokhara. Fly back to Kathmandu.

It was late May before the rainy season, but we were blessed with clear skies and were able to see the beautiful mountain ranges of Nilgiri and Annapurna. The desolate landscape of Mustang was very beautiful, and it was a very interesting experience to get a glimpse of the life of the villagers in Kagbeni.

It was quite hot during the daytime walks in late May. Short sleeves are fine. If you don't want to get sunburned, wear thin long sleeves. Since it gets cold in the mornings and evenings in Muktinath, I wore a light down jacket, but if you layer up a warm long sleeve jacket, you can wear a hiking jacket instead of a down jacket.

Our trekking guide, Amar, was very kind and not only guided us on hiking but also carefully explained the history and people's lives. (In English) He always took care to make the trek comfortable, and the walking pace was adjusted to suit our physical strength, so we were able to enjoy it without any strain.

Kumar handled advance reservations and questions, and he responded to emails very quickly. After arriving in Kathmandu, I visited the office and Kumar gave me a brief explanation of the schedule. In Kathmandu, Santosh handled my communications and accompanied me to the transfer between the hotel and the airport. Both of them were cheerful and kind.
During the tour, I asked to change my plan to stay in Pokhara for two nights after the trek (of course, the additional hotel fee was at my own expense), and I am grateful that he quickly and readily responded to my request, such as changing my flight on the return trip.

A short walk from Jomsom to Muktinath.

We had great dealings with Kumar and the team at Discover Altitude. Kumar was our initial contact, and Santosh was our day to day contact on-the-ground. Their communication was great, and everything went smoothly.

Before departing for Nepal, we emailed Kumar about what we had in mind, and he presented us with different options. We settled on a short trip from Jomsom to Muktinath - flying from Kathmandu to Pokhara and on to Jomsom the next day to commence our hike. (We took the same air-route in reverse on our way back.) In total, the trip was six or seven days, with three days hiking. (This worked out well due to our schedule, but next time we might spend a few more days walking.)

Our guide on the trip was Amar Magar. We really recommend him. (Ask for him by name!) He was thoughtful, organised, and provided clear information on what we were doing each day. His patience and pleasant manner made the trip really enjoyable.

The hike itself was good. The area from Jomsom to Kagbeni (where we stopped for the first night) was primarily along the road and the riverbed, and the scenery was primarily the dry and desolate scenery one might expect of the Mustang area. Kagbeni was a nice village to rest. (There are a number of tea houses, and an interesting temple where one of the monks showed us around.) The walk up to Muktinath the next day was a little bit tough - being a climb of about 1,000 meters. (Not 'technically' tough; more of a challenge due to low fitness levels!) After resting, we visited the Hindu pilgrimage site, which was quite an interesting experience as it attracts a lot of visitors. We stayed the night at a tea house in Muktinath, and then walked back to Jomsom via a different route, stopping at a village called Lupna on the way back. The route from Muktinath to Lupna was probably the highlight of our trip, with much more diverse terrain, including great alpine scenery, fantastic rocky cliffs and forests, and the picturesque village of Lupna itself, with a very old temple and some caves used for solitary retreats.

If you have limited time, then I would recommend the approach we took. It provides a glimpse of the Mustang region (without getting in to the Upper Mustang region, which requires more time and an expensive permit), and a taste of walking in the region. On our walk, we met a number of people who had walked the Annapurna Circuit, taking around two weeks. We might plan better and aim to do that next time!

In terms of practical considerations, noting it was mid-May, we found that we were able to walk in t-shirts and long pants. We carried a lot of warm clothing with us, but didn't need really it. (We were a bit cold briefly after arriving at Muktinath, but generally we didn't use our warm clothing. It would be smart to take something - but no need to take too much.) The bedding provided in the rooms was more than adequate, and we didn't need our own sleeping bags. (Taking a sleeping bag liner might suffice from a cleanliness perspective if this is a concern.)

A Once-in-a-lifetime EBC Trekking Trip

What a once-in-a-lifetime trek to EBC! Waking up at midnight to dogs barking or in the morning to birds chirping and singing and the sound of rushing river, looking out the window and seeing the mountain so close as if within reach, roaming around Namche Bazaar and checking out the local markets, setting off in the sound of school children's morning drill, crossing rivers and valleys over the suspension bridges, passing the mani stones in the villages and the stupas on the trail, watching porters with oversized load strapped on their heads stepping to the lively beat of loud Nepali songs, navigating rocks uphill inside the dark clouds and white-out snow, trekking on the winding trail through dusty forests, misty mountain passes, wide open scrub land, and rugged and rocky barren land, with the famous and mysterious mountain peaks seemingly around every corner or suddenly elusive behind the wandering clouds, and flying down in helicopter provided every moment to admire the mountainous landscape and appreciate local life in this harsh environment. It’s been almost two weeks since I came back yet the sceneries and sounds on the trail still linger.

The EBC trek was also grueling - the long distance, the high elevation, the thin air at times mixed with dust or animal smell, the coldness at night, the completely unpredictable weather that could change by the minute – and every little inconvenience could pile on the exhaustion from a long day of trekking, but the thoughtful services by my guide Krishna made all these bearable. Every day after arriving at the tea house he made sure food was ordered and I had a spot to sit next to the stove to warm up. Every morning before we leave the tea house, he made sure bill was paid and everything was packed and ready. On the trail he was patient, watchful, and protective when the yaks and horses approaching. My tour company Discover Altitude was very flexible and allowed me to change my trekking schedule on the fly, including booking tea houses during peak season and securing single room occupancy. In fact, the three unplanned tea houses in Jorsalle, Phungi Thenga, and Dughla, allowed me to enjoy the real serenity near nature and away from crowds. The company also booked a helicopter, outside of my original plan, to fly me out back in Kathmandu in time. Their flexibility was crucial for me to have a successful and enjoyable EBC trekking trip.

Thank you Krishna for your kind-hearted service.

And thank you Santosh for showing me the street food, the hidden temples, and the vibrant life around the old town of Kathmadu.
