High altitude, safety measures, and regulation
Everest base camp lies in the high Himalayas of the Khumbu region. Normally the symptom of High Altitude Sickness can be felt after 3500 meters. The main cause of high-altitude sickness is gaining elevation faster.
Walking fast overexerts your body and drinking less also dehydrates your body which both highly contribute to getting altitude sickness.
Walking slowly and drinking plenty is highly recommended, which helps to prevent from high altitude sickness. You also need to know about Altitude Sickness Symptoms which help to take further measurements to avoid them.
Common symptoms are dizziness, vomiting, loss of appetite, over-fatigue, headaches, and shortness of breath. However, our professional guide will help you in assisting with, if any symptoms are seen.
Do not walk to the edge of the mountain while animals like zonkey, yaks, and mules are on the way. Always stay on the hillside for your safety.
Do not walk in the dark which provides you with the risk of an animal attack, sprained legs, or hypothermia.
Everest base camp comfort trek or luxury trek goes through a Himalayan region where weather is always unpredictable, so prepare with warm gear accordingly while trekking.
Watch out for landside areas (it is recommended to move faster in those sections)
Flying drones, and shooting movies, and documentaries are illegal without special permission from government bodies. Otherwise, it is subject to being in trouble! Consult with your travel agency for a permit.
Do we stay in comfortable lodges in every place we go onwards to Everest base camp?
The comfort lodges are available throughout the trek. However, the higher we hike the luxury of the lodges will change a bit because of the altitude. Till Dingbuche you will have a wonderful accommodation.
Then onwards Lobuche has a room with a comfortable bed but does not have a private toilet inside. The last place in Gorakshep which is at 5140 meters above sea level, has a comfortable room and for toilets, you have to go outside.
The reason behind not having comfortable lodges in high altitudes is that there is no permanent source of energy, as all the lodges use solar-powered energy which is not a reliable source where the weather keeps changing.
Another reason they don't have a private toilet inside the room is that the temperature mostly drops below zero. So the water turns into ice which damages all plumbing systems.
