Useful Info

  • Mount Everest is the highest mountain in the world with an elevation of 8848 meters above sea level.
  • Mount Everest lies in Nepal, it is also known as Sagarmatha ‘top of the world’ in the Nepali language, and ‘Chomolungma’ which means mother of the world’ in the Sherpa language.
  • Mt. Everest was first scaled by Tenzing Norgay and Sir Edmund Hillary in the year 1953 AD.
  • Mt. Everest lies in Sagarmatha National Conservation Area which is the UNESCO natural world heritage site.
  • Trekkers can only trek up to the base camp of Mt. Everest which is 5364 meters, at this elevation we can observe the expedition group arranging for the summit to the top of Mt. Everest at 8848.86 meters.
  • Till the Base Camp of Mt. Everest we can trek using a normal trekking permit, but to summit the top of Mt. Everest we need a special permit and training.
  • Short Everest Trek is one of the easiest and shortest hikes into the Himalayas for the magnificent views of the long ranges of the Himalayas including Mt. Everest.
  • This 5-day short trek will take us to the highest elevation of 3880 meters for the magnificent views of the Himalayas including Mt. Everest.
  • This trek is the easiest and risk-free trek because of its lower elevation, so any age group of trekkers can enjoy the hike into the Himalayas.
  • The highest point for the overnight stay will be Namche Bazaar 3446 meters making it no risk of altitude sickness.
  • The easiest way to trek to the Everest region is to fly to Lukla from Manthali/Ramechap airport, which is around 3-4 drive from the main city of Kathmandu.
  • Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal has issued a notice to all the airlines flying to Lukla that from the month of October 2019, all the flights to and from Lukla will be commerce from Manthali airport which is in the Ramechap district, due to air traffic problems in Kathmandu airport, so now to all the trekkers and expedition group taking domestic flight will be operated from Manthali airport, this is only applicable to domestic flight not to the helicopter.
  • We can take a helicopter to and from Lukla airport via Kathmandu airport but not the normal domestic flight.
  • Normally trekking to Everest Base Camp starts from Lukla and ends at Lukla, keeping in mind the total trekking distance to be covered is 130 km in 11 days which includes two extra rest days for acclimatization one in Namche Bazaar and the other in Dingboche but Short Everest Trek itinerary is only to hike up to Singboche/Everest View and descend back to Lukla making it just 5 days trek.
  • A Short Everest Trek itinerary will help to complete the entire hike to the Everest Viewpoint Camp in just 5 days including 2 days descending to Lukla. These itineraries help to shorten the trek for trekkers who are busy with their tight schedules but are desperate to view the highest mountain, Mt. Everest.
  • The Short Everest Trek is a moderate hike into the Khumbu region one of the highest areas on earth.
  • Throughout the Short Everest hike, accommodations are attach-toilet, with different western and Asian cuisine but to the Everest Base Camp which is 11 days trek, hotels and lodges will be of a normal standard to basic due to its remoteness and higher elevation.
  • The only living community in the Everest region is the Sherpa community, they are the aboriginals of the high Himalayas and follow Buddhism as their religion they are very friendly, loyal, and helpful.

The best thing we have ever experienced! ANNAPURNA CIRCUIT

Annapurna circuit from a vague idea to departure in a few days: As we arrived in Kathmandu our hotel kindly got us in touch with Discover Altitude. We planned our itinerary and after three days we were already on our way. Santosh helped us to buy gear, since we had literally none. He also kept in touch with us all the time whenever we had even the tiniest request. We departed with our guide Amar and Porter Hari. With them it felt like visiting your family for two weeks: they took care of everything. The only thing we had to do by ourselves was walking and taking care of basic hygiene:) it felt so natural, that just now writing this review, I start to feel very sad about all of this coming to an end.
We had, what I’ve felt the best food and the best accommodation. It was all planned out through and through and we never doubted anything.
I will not write about my impressions of the trip itself and all what we have seen, which is a lot - there are not enough words to describe it. You have to experience it for yourself. All I can say about it: it is the best thing we both have ever done and it will stay in our hearts for ever. Thank you!!!
AND: What stood out to me was the warmth and respect the guys showed for each other. One example: on our way to Throng La we noticed a group of three Americans from another company. Their porters were loaded with up to 30kg each. 30KG!!!! Imagine that! We saw those poor porters stumbling up the hill and seriously putting their health at risk. When I asked Santosh, how much we could pack, he said: 15 to 17 at max for 2 ppl. In retrospect this showed me that not only they cared for us, but also for their coworkers!
As we are happy to finally get a hot shower and relax in a chair drinking a tea in Pokhara, at the same time I am devastatingly sad to part with Amar and Hari. I have to stop now, since I am getting very emotional…Annapurna circuit from a vague idea to departure in a few days: As we arrived in Kathmandu our hotel kindly got us in touch with Discover Altitude. Get the best, forget the rest

Had a greasy time in Kathmandu, Chitwan, Pokhara, and Lumbini. Kumar and Santosh answered all questions and concerns, provided excellent guidance of area temples and Hinduism, as well as good spots for local cuisine, and where to get local made art. Pashupatinath, Monkey Temple, and Durbar Square were my favorite spots in Kathmandu. Discover Altitude also arranged my rides and accommodations for Chitwan and onto Pokhara. Can’t say enough good things about Discover Altitude. Excellent business!

Brilliant Team

Santosh, Kumar and our guide Amar were all fantastic - we completed an 8-day trek through part of the Annapurna circuit including Thorang La Pass (5400m) and it went incredibly smoothly thanks to the extensive knowledge and planning by the team.

Highly recommend Discover Altitude. Will definitely be using them again.

A lifetime experience with Discover Altitude

My wife and I, both 55+ years of age and reasonably healthy, were looking for a tour agency to help us trek to Namche Bazar. I came across Discover Altitude's website among others. All throughout my research for a suitable tour agent, Kumar-ji from Discover Altitude was extremely patient in answering all my never-ending questions in great detail. That's what made me pick Discover Altitude. And they didn't disappoint.

Kumar-ji and later, Santosh, were extremely helpful in helping us prepare for the trek. They gave plenty of reassurances to another couple joining us who had no prior trekking experience. Right from the moment we landed at Kathmandu until the time we left, Kumar-ji, Santosh and their team took genuinly good care of us and ensured that we had the best experience possible.

I highly recommend Discover Altitude for all your trekking needs in the beautiful Himalayas of Nepal.

The tour agency you need!

Look no further if you are looking for an agency to book a trek or anything you need in Nepal! At first, I only contacted Discover Altitude to book a jeep ticket to Bupsa where I started my Three Passes trek. At the office, Kumar and Santosh were so friendly, helpful and genuine that later I even ended up booking a porter guide with them. And they did not disappoint! The guys were checking on me all the time, they were always a phone call away if i needed anything or when I had issues like when I had to change jeep in Salleri and the jeep organiser was keep refusing me to get on the jeep as my ticket was purchased at the counter and couldn’t make extra cash on me, Kumar sorted it out from afar so I can get on the next one. They also arrange last minute flight booking on the way back, everything you need.

And Pratap, my porter guide! I even had tears when we said goodbye! He was the sweetest person ever and my motivation. He had excellent knowledge of the trail, the mountains and a great trekking companion. I usually like trekking alone and he gave me space to enjoy the surroundings alone. He wasn’t too much like other guides who literally hold your hands all the time and try to be your mum away from your mum :). I say this from previous experience at Annapurna and hearing other trekkers’ feedback of their guides, they often cut off all your interactions with locals at the lodges and leave you with no independence.

Thank you, Guys, for making my trek an unforgettable experience! Looking forward to our celebratory beers on Saturday:).

FAQs

Q1. What is different between Everest Base Camp Trek and Short Everest Trek?

Everest Base Camp Trek or EBC Trek is 11 days trek (can shorten or extend) that starts from a moderate hike too strenuous leading us all the way to the very base camp of Mt. Everest.

On the other hand, Short Everest Trek is a moderate hike into the Everest region leading us a maximum of 3880 meters for the magnificent views of the mighty Himalayas including Mt. Everest.

EBC trek is reaching the base camp of Mt. Everest which is 5364 meters but is a bit challenging whereas Short Everest Trek is an easy trek for any age group, this is less time consuming and relaxing trek to have a magnificent view of Mt. Everest and its surrounding ranges.

Q2. Who can trek Short Everest Trek?

Any age group or gender can do Short Everest Trek; it is one of the easiest treks into the Khumbu/Everest region of Nepal for the magnificent close-range views of the Himalayas, including Mt. Everest.

The trek will lead us to a maximum of 3446 meters but the overnight stay will be at the elevation of 3880 meters, this makes the trek free from any form of altitude sickness and danger for a layman trekker.

Q3. Is there Wi-Fi and electricity facility in Short Everest Trek?

Yes, WiFi and electricity are available in all the hotel and lodges in the entire trek. We can charge our mobile or other electronic gadgets if necessary.

Short Everest Trek is a luxurious way to explore the Khumbu region of Nepal with modern facilities all the way from food to toilet, from purified water to ATM’s and from modern restaurants to dance bars.

Q4. Which is the best way to explore Mt. Everest?

Everest is one of the highest mountains on the earth, it is a dream for thousands of adventurous lovers but the dream to explore and witness the highest mountain can be done in two ways.

The first and easiest way to have a close range of Mt. Everest is to take a mountain flight from Kathmandu airport, which is an hour flight and the other way is to trek from Lukla to the possible place to explore Mt. Everest which can be Namche Bazaar or all the way to the Everest Base Camp.

It depends upon the trekkers which way to choose depending upon the time schedule of your stay in Nepal and also the willpower to hike.
