Beautiful Nepal

Trekking with Narayan and his team was amazin! One of the best experiences of my life and aside from the vast landscapes and incredible views, the guides on this trip were so informative, humble and just beautiful people. A fantastic guide, an amazing Trek

WOW is all I can say about Ace. Udaya was an amazing guide and was perfect throughout the entire trek. He was friendly, super knowledgeable, and handled everything that I needed from gear to travel. They were always concerned about my comfort and seeing that a memorable trip was had by myself and my partner. I had a medical issue that caused him to both works into the night to get a resolution. Of course, being sick in a foreign country can be a scary ordeal, but it was handled professionally and worked out well.

I can say with certainty that they'll be at the top of my list for my next trip and I can say without reservation that I'd go with them again.

Excellent!

I am not an expert on trekking but I love it. From my experience, if you have a plan to trek, the important is you have to find a good guide and travel agency you can trust. I am lucky I found both. So if you have a plan in mind to go to Nepal.. just try to contact them. I believe that you will imprese on their service. 5 trips in Nepal since 2017.. until now I am looking forward to going back to trek with them again 😊

Absolutely Life Changing

I first toured Nepal in 2012 and was paired with a local guide named Udaya (Narayan) Thapa. Traveling as a young, lone female, I had my guard up when I first arrived. However, it was not necessary because Narayan was such an incredibly talented and supported guide that I left Nepal wanting more adventure and booked a second tour a year later!

EBC, or Everest Base Camp, was my first experience in the Himalayans. The culture, citizens, hospitality, and breathtaking views were more than I could take in at once. Yes, I chose to climb the most popular trek in the nation, but with that comes many positives: peace of mind that I'll meet like-minded people, that there will be some small amenities for me, that my friends and family back home have heard of it before, and that I could do some research. Go ahead and research all you want, but nothing prepares you for the views of watching a storm unfold below you.

Narayan and the sherpas he hired completely prepared me for each day. I knew how much water to drink, what foods I should eat (garlic soup!), what foods to avoid (unfortunately alcohol haha), and how much "mountain flat" terrain I would expect to traverse in a certain period of time. Narayan knew my limits and could accurately foresee when I needed to break and when I could push myself (basically never because that's not safe). He helped me with the ponding headaches too! At the end of the trek, he took some time out of his own day to show me where the mall was so I could decompress and have some food. We really did become friends.

I missed the mountains the moment I left. I missed the laughter, the language, and the views! The quiet from the (2/3 of the way up) to the top of the world. I went back. This time I brought two friends. I wired two thousand dollars over from Canada and trusted that Narayan would be there to get us at the airport, and of course, he was! He values his customers more than we value the experience of touring his majestic country.

The second time around we hiked around Annapurna. Walking the pass was at the height of our trek, and after days of going up, was surreal. Narayan said I would be taking long slow steps and he wasn't joking. My advice? Listen to your guide! He knows best.

Whatever tour you decide to book, you won't regret it. I've been wanting to return for almost ten years now, and haven't made it back. When you get there, say hi to Narayan for me :)

FAQs

Q1. Can we charge our battery in the Annapurna Base Camp?

It is possible to charge all the electronic gadgets in the Annapurna trek along with the Annapurna Base Camp Trek, for the couple starting days charging may be free, as the lower area is well sufficient with the electricity but as we trek higher lodges and tea houses use a solar panel for electricity.

So the higher you hike charging gadgets cost some money but charging is possible in every area.

Q2. Where is Annapurna Trek situated/located?

Annapurna is one of the most popular regions situated in the landlocked country Nepal. Annapurna is not a particular place; it is a vast region with numerous trekking and hiking trails. Trekkers can trek in the Annapurna region from 1 day to 25 days depending upon their time and interest of the area.

Annapurna is a diverse region varying from altitude to climate to landscape to habitation of people, making it one of the most popular trekking destinations for travellers with varied cultures and the mighty Himalayas above 8000 meters.

Q3. Where is Annapurna Base Camp situated?

Annapurna is a popular Himalaya of Nepal which lies in the Annapurna region. It is a Himalaya with an altitude of 8091 meters, trekkers trek to the base camp of Mt. Annapurna with their nominal pace which is 4130 meters.

The easiest way to reach Annapurna Base Camp is from Pokhara which is also the gateway to Mt. Annapurna. Pokhara lies just 200km from the main city of Nepal which is Kathmandu. There is no international flight to Pokhara, so trekkers need to fly to Kathmandu international airport and take a domestic flight to Pokhara or drive to Pokhara.

Q4. How hard/difficult is to trek Annapurna Base Camp?

Annapurna Base Camp is one of the easiest treks to reach the base camp of Mt. Annapurna (8,091 meters) compared to the other base camp of the Himalayas above 8,000 meters. The trek starts from Pokhara (850 meters) leading us to the Base Camp (4,130 meters), this is an easy hike from camp to camp but with varied culture, landscape, and nature.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek can be completed by any trekkers who are physically fit for 6 hours hike daily with frequent rest. So age and gender don’t matter for the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) trek.

Q5. How much does the Annapurna Base Camp Trek cost?

Trekking to the Annapurna region is not as expensive as compared to the Everest trek or the Everest region trek but the important factor is the duration of the entire trek. The more the duration the price goes accordingly, but not the worrying price.

To know the price first, you need to confirm the number of days you are supposed to trek. The price to the Annapurna Base Camp can start from 500 USD to 1100 USD, it depends upon the number of days and also the facilities you would prefer while trekking along with the lodges/tea house, Wi-Fi, hot shower, etc. but the cheapest way to trek in any region of Nepal is joining a group, the more the number the less the price goes.

If you don’t want to join a big group for privacy better to have at least two trekkers, this will minimize the cost required for your guide and porter and also in the Himalayas lodges/tea houses have two separate bed in every room, so trekkers need to share a room with someone else during the high trekking season.

Q6. Is Annapurna trek dangerous?

Annapurna trek includes numerous areas, it is a vast region named Annapurna. So firstly trekkers have to be conformed with the area they are supposed to trek in the Annapurna area, as the trek in the Annapurna region starts from a single day trek to multiple days trek and also the altitude varies from area to area trekkers want to trek.

Among all the trekking in the Annapurna region, Annapurna Circuit or round Annapurna trek is regarded as a bit dangerous as compared to other areas of Annapurna trek. This is not dangerous always but during the winter sometimes there is heavy snowfall from 4000 meters which results in avalanches and also confusion with the trail.

So, we always suggest trekkers have a guide while trekking in Nepal above 3500 meters. As the mountain region is not a crowded place, there are no sufficient notice boards to get information. So, if you follow the wrong trail, this can lead to a dangerous situation.

Above all, the Annapurna trek is not a dangerous trek at all as compared to other treks as Everest or Dhaulagiri.

Q7. How long does Annapurna Base Camp Trek take?

Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Trek is one of the shortest treks to reach the base camp of the Himalayas above 8,000 meters in Nepal. It depends upon the physical condition of the trekkers as well to fix the duration of the trek, normally the ABC trek can last from 9 days to 14 days depending upon the route you are taking for the trek to accomplish.

It depends upon the number of days any trekkers have, so trekkers can customize the trek accordingly. But to speak the truth Annapurna Base Camp can be completed in 9-10 days making the starting point from Kathmandu and ending in Kathmandu. This number of days will be one of the best Annapurna Base Camp Trek for you with nominal pace into the Himalayas.

Q8. Where to stay while trekking in the Annapurna Base Camp Trek?

Annapurna Base Camp Trek is self-sufficient with a number of hotels/lodges and tea houses. They have both attach toilet facilities in many areas but not everywhere but as you trek higher the number of lodges and tea houses is limited because of the conservation area.

So pre-booking of the hotel is very important to avoid any difficulty to find lodges and tea house. This will be arranged by your guide and the company you are traveling by.

Q9. Can we do Annapurna Base Camp on our own?

Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a popular trekking destination for national as well as international tourists, every year thousands of trekkers travel into the Annapurna Base Camp.

Annapurna Base Camp is a very popular trekking destination, but with a limited number of lodges and tea houses, due to the diversity of the trekking route sometimes solo trekkers may find difficulty in locating the right trail, and also the lodge is limited in number because Annapurna is a conserved area.

It is possible to trek on your own but this may increase the factor of difficulty, so normally the government doesn’t recommend trekkers to trek without a registered agency and license guide.

Q10. How are the food and accommodation facilities in Annapurna Base Camp Trek?

Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a short trek as compared to other base camp trek, the region itself is a conserved area. There are numerous numbers of lodges and tea houses in the trek but the number is limited as the altitude increase.

Some tea houses provide attach toilet facilities as well but the lodges and tea houses are normal with two single beds in every room, so if you are solo trekkers sometimes you may need to share a room with other trekkers.

The lodges and tea houses provide good food mainly local vegetables are served but non-vegetarian items may be imported for the nearby city Pokhara which means it may not be very fresh. Other foods which include pizza, burgers along with Indian, Continental, Chinese, etc are normally served in the tea houses.

Q11. Can we find Wi-Fi and Hot Shower Facilities in the Annapurna Base Camp Trek?

Annapurna Base Camp Trek is now modernized with the technology, trekkers can use Wi-Fi in all the lodges and tea houses and also the hot shower is possible upon request but you need to pay extra for using these.

It is better to have a local mobile sim card with an internet data pack, as the network is strong enough to use the internet but it depends upon the weather condition.
