All around the trek, you will be able to encounter majestic views of the flora and fauna, cascading waterfall, magnificent vegetation, and the very popular water reservoir which supplies drinking water to Kathmandu valley and the source of the Bagmati river.

The trail passes through Shivapuri National Park of Nepal, which is one of the very famous watershed areas and the main source of drinking water supply to Kathmandu Valley. The park lies between the temperate and subtropical climatic zones, rich in flora and fauna.
Shivapuri National Park is a protected area, so different army checkpoints exist to maintain its conservation project. It is also one of the religious heritage areas for both Hindu and Buddhist followers, as different hermitages from different periods came here for meditation, and among them ‘SHIVAPURI BABA’ is one of them, as a respect to this hermitage the park has been named after him.
Above all this conservation area is the source of the Bagmati and Bisnumati rivers of Nepal, a highly sacred rivers. Furthermore, different subtropical hardwoods, pine, oak, rhododendron, etc are grown and the park is blessed with an abundance of different species of butterflies and birds.
So Shivapuri is also a popular destination for Bird Watching and in terms of wildlife sloth bears, jungle cats, monkeys, deer, leopards, etc can be seen. So to protect all this, army checkpoint keeps their eyes on visitors’ records.
As the Sundarijal hike is a day hike, so, your final point to reach will be Mulkharka, a Tamang settlement area, but can be extended depending upon your time. After enjoying your lunch in a local restaurant, you will descend the trail back to Sundarijal where you can enjoy a cup of tea/coffee, and finally back to Kathmandu.
