Ama Dablam Base Camp Trek Difficulty
Ama Dablam which lies in the Everest region of Nepal, is one of the most fascinating mountains in the entire Everest region. The trek and the trail to Ama Dablam Base Camp starts after landing into Lukla airport, which is also the same to Everest Base Camp Trek.
Moreover, Ama Dablam trail is a moderate trek as compared to Everest trek as the last overnight camp for Ama Dablam trek is Pengboche, whereas for Everest base Camp trek, trekkers need to go further uphill 4 days to reach Everest.
Till Pengboche, the trail will be easy going with the majestic views of the Himalayas and the surrounding hills and valleys of the Khumbu region, without any altitude worries.
Of course, trekking into the Himalayas includes ascending and descending all the way but in the context of Ama Dablam trek, we will be following a smooth going well-maintained trail through the forest into the Himalayas.
This will be with an extra day for acclimatization in Namche Bazaar before reaching Pengboche, which will help trekkers to cope up with the surrounding environment of the Himalayas.
Further, Pengboche is just 3930 meters and also the last overnight camp before heading to Aa Dablam Base Camp. Trekkers need to hike from Pengboche to Ama Dablam Base Camp (4600m), this is a day tour because there are no alternative teahouses in the Ama Dablam Base Camp area.
All these makes Ama Dablam trek an easy-going trail for all age group and for a layman trekker as well.
Best Time for Ama Dablam Base Camp
Ama Dablam Trek is low altitude trail as compared to Everest trek, so trekkers can trek to Ama Dablam Base Camp throughout the year.
The main trouble in the high Himalaya trek comes mainly during the winter where thick snow covers all the trail but trekking to Ama Dablam is possible even during the winter season.
For the magnificent views, floral and fauna, clear blue sky with spotless Himalayas we recommended trekkers to choose January-April and August-December for Ama Dablam Trek. As the month May-July is Monsoon season in Nepal, below Namche Bazaar, trekkers will experience some rainfall, this makes the trail slippery.
Further, the view of the Himalayas will not be clear due to cloud.
Ama Dablam Trek Route
Ama Dablam Trek Route is same with the Everest Base Camp as both lies in the Khumbu/Everest region of Nepal. Trekkers will need to take stunning domestic flight to Lukla and further hike all the way to Pengboche, the last overnight teahouse camp for Ama Dablam.
