Namche Bazaar is the gateway to Everest and is one of the most popular towns in the entire Khumbu Region. Situated at 3446 METERS, Namche Bazaar is the trade hub and the unofficial capital of the Everest Region.
Surrounded by hills and the himalayas, this little town is well equipped with all the modern amenities where trekkers can spend quality time exploring the local market, visiting the Sherpa village, monastery, pub, snooker house, museum, and short hikes around the hills, etc.
This little town is also the most visited area of the Everest Region. Trekkers who wish to explore the range of himalayas of the Everest region, prefer to take a short hike to Namche Bazaar. However, those restricted with time, take a direct helicopter ride to Namche Bazaar.
Namche Bazaar is popularly used as an acclimatizing spot by trekkers and climbers, where they spend 2 nights before heading towards the Everest Base Camp or the other areas of the region. Those days are used as an acclimatizing day and 1 day is used here while descending.
Spending a couple of days in Namche Bazaar will be a great advantage to enjoy and explore the areas and also to visit some of the surrounding villages of the Sherpa community to learn about their lifestyle and day-to-day activities.
We at Discover Altitude Treks, help our clients to enjoy some of the must-to-do activities while being in Namche Bazaar.
Below is the list of places one can visit while acclimatizing at Namche Bazaar:

Sir Edmund Hillary and Mr. Tenzing Norgay Sherpa were only the members among the 10 to summit Everest. To support this team of 10 members, there were 350 Porters and 20 Sherpas to support them with supplies during their expedition.
Mr. Kancha is one of the only surviving members of this group, who worked as a porter to support the expedition group. He now resides in Namche Bazaar and runs Nirvana Lodge with his family members.
